Sony CD Architect crashes when burning a virtual CD

Error message:
"(...) Module sfmmcx.cpp Line 1805
An illegal request was received.
A specified address is out of range."
Error seen when using Sony CD Architect 5.2

To support the virtual burner for Sony CD Architect you need the current updated driver for Virtual CD v8:

  • Rename the driver vdrv8000.sys in C:\Windows\System32\drivers.
  • Store the new driver there:
    • 32 Bit Treiber (for Windows 2000 and XP)
    • 64 Bit Treiber (please note that the 64 Bit driver can only be used for the 64 Bit version of Windows XP!)
  • The new driver is available after a restart of the computer.

Please note that this driver is not certified by Microsoft because the Sony CDA support was implemented after the certification. The new driver is identical to the certified version except for this enhancement!

In Virtual CD v10 Sony CD Architect may hang on writing the lead-out. In this case a reinstallation of Virtual CD may solve the problem. It may be an issue of installation order.
